About Us

Uncle Jesse's Blues Skillet is comprised of Jesse Struckhoff (Guitar/Vocals), Pete Palombo (Bass/Vocals) and several other local musicians.  I will tell the story to the best of my ability as Pete is not here this very moment to provide input.  Here goes.......  I  (Jesse) started playing in bands and in bars as a youth.  In the years following, I continued playing in a variety of bands throughout downstate Illinois and Chicago.  My wife and I moved to Colorado in 2001 to live in the mountains.  In his youth, Pete Palombo was a surveyor working on nuclear submarines in Rhode Island.  In his spare time, he played flugle horn and bass.  In his early 20's, he moved from the east coast to Boulder, Colorado.  Since the mid 1990's, Pete has been a fixture on the Boulder music scene playing in a variety of bands such as the Gin Project, and Danny Shafer to name a couple. In 2002, I put an ad in the paper looking for band members.  I received a response from a Saw player (yes... like you use to cut wood).  The Saw player knew a bass player....  Enter Pete.    Uncle Jesse's Blues Skillet was born (minus the Saw player).  We found a couple drummers and a sax player and started playing out in Boulder, Longmont and Denver.  Each show, different musicians would join us on stage.   We embraced the dynamic flavor the talented musicians would bring to the live Skillet performances.   It made for exciting shows and a great deal of fun.  In 2005, I moved to St. Louis, MO to get a horse and live close to family.  While in the Midwest, I formed a 2 man acoustic band and performed regularly.  In 2012, we returned to Colorado.  Why?... it is wonderful here.   Pete was waiting for my return because (A) he really missed me (B) he (and I) could not wait to make music again.  That brings us to current day, 2013.   We have a couple drummers and likely others to round out the Skillet sound.  Who knows,  may even be a Saw player.   If you have a venue, you should consider booking us.  If you go to shows, you should come see us.  Whatever the case, thank you for checking out our site.  Hope to see you soon...
